HERCULES UNIVERSAL ISSUE VII – VOL II

Both contemporary and iconic, there is no place as fascinating to journey through as the palm-lined streets of Los Angeles. The surreal feeling of the city stems from it being both rough and luxurious; everyday in LA feels like California dreaming. Now more than ever, the sprawling city is inspiring designers, musicians, artists and photographers – though this city’s creative dalliances have already included the likes of David Hockney and Kurt Cobain.

With this rich artistic tapestry in mind, we took a road trip on California’s dusty and glittering roads with photographer Bruno Staub and the already iconic male model Simon Nessman. We started amongst the throngs of lax and ended up stranded in Joshua Tree National Park – stopping on the way, as one does, at the likes of Palm Springs and Santa Monica.

As LA is a city of pictures and not words, Hedi Slimane, fashion’s foremost image-maker, captures an arrestingly illustrative portfolio of the city’s alternative music scene. Paul Jasmin complements this with his romantic and nostalgic vision of the city, one almost embodied by Scott Eastwood, who has Hollywood’s legendary qualities running through his veins. Our cover boy is taking the film industry by storm. He sets the tone for this issue, where we continue to showcase all that is new and exciting. Enjoy our warm, western approach to winter and, as ever, dream on.
