HERCULES UNIVERSAL XXI VOL. II / WILD WORLD

A letter from the Editors.

The fashion industry is constantly dwelling over its place in this immediate, digital world. But talking about the state of things with a legend like Bruce Weber really put matters into perspective. Setting the world to rights over coffee with Bruce in downtown Manhattan focused our views on photography, the pace of working and the passion that is essential to being a creative.

The crucial point is that we are not creating a fleeting image or even just a product. By making a printed book, we hope to archive our moment and create a pictorial legacy. We produce our magazine to be cherished.

Despite our fascination with the digital realm, paper both reminds us of the past and gives us pause to reflect on how to move forward.

In this issue we really wanted to hold a mirror up to our time. We composed visual essays that distill our present. Bruce Weber excelled at capturing today’s youth in his exuberant portfolio. And our young Hollywood spread shows the changing face of leading men steadily taking over our screens.

Our fashion spreads show the evolution of men’s style that is developing at lightening speed. And the world of painter Bosco Sodi reminds us of the love and passion that goes into the creation of art.

Our fascination with travel continues as we bring you on a journey to Ghana, looking to show the world not just around us but further afield. Alessio Boni’s vibrant pictures show that even as the world shrinks to the size of our phone screens, there are faraway lands to explore and adventures to enjoy.
